Turning to another subject, you will, I think,
be glad to know that the Governor has given me formal
permission to include provision for a Deputy Director of
Health Services in the Estimates for 1939. I venture to
mention this point because the Secretary of State has
already on a previous occasion intimated that he would
be prepared to support such an appointment, and I felt
that you might wish to have time to consider the merits
of various officers for the post. As you will remember
I have already ventured to submit a name for your
consideration in the event of this Government agreeing
to the appointment which agreement has now been
reached.
I have not yet received a reply regarding
the conditions of service for Sisters but no doubt
that is coming by ordinary ocean mail.
Yours sincerely,
(Sgd.) R.S. SELWYN CLARKE.
